Viva Las Vegas

Tom has attempted to go to Vegas two times and both times, something happened to prevent him from going. For his 35th birthday, we planned a trip to Vegas and arranged to meet Sam and Adam there.

The last time that I went, I was instructed to walk with my hands behind my back, not to look at or touch anything, and walk straight ahead. Needless to say, when we arrived at the MGM Grand, we were "Vegas Virgins."

We had a few items on our agenda while in Vegas and we were able to do most everything we wanted to do.
We ate wonderful meals at places like:

Joel Robuchon

Nine Fine Irishmen

Tao

Serendipity

We saw Peepshow and Ka. Both were excellent, but both very different. Peepshow is a traditional burlesque show, but set to modern hits and choreographed by Scary Spice and the man that did Legally Blonde. It also features Holly Madison.

Our seats were phenomenal - I can tell you that Holly's toenails were purple. Ka is a Cirque du Soleil show that is about twins that are separated due to a political coup and reunite and help to restore the Empire. The stage moved: it rotated, lifted vertically, slanted... AMAZING!

We also spent some time at the pool relaxing and enjoying each others' company. The MGM has a great pool with a lazy river and plenty of shade. There is also an adult pool called Wet Republic that is way overrated. We went in and left to return to the main pool area.

Of all of the hotel/casinos, I think that Paris, the Mirage, and the Bellagio were my favorite ones. I really liked New York, New York, but it was across from the MGM and sort of away from the action. The next time we return, we will definitely stay more toward the middle of everything. I loved how Paris made you feel like you were in France.

The Bellagio has this amazing Conservatory area that was decorated for fall. I think that I liked that more than their water show...

Now that we are back, we are so tired and I have been sniffling but I can't wait to go back. I think that I may look at the price comparisons for the other hotels that I like for future reference. Maybe a birthday trip for me...
