Where has August gone?

So, it is already the middle of August. Where has the time gone? Oh, wait! Work! That is where it has gone - I went back to work the first week of August and have been frantically working away.
The start of the year is always mixed with emotions. I mourn the end of summer and spending endless time with Lauryn and am also excited about the new opportunities the upcoming year possesses. Lauryn will grow by leaps and bounds: she will learn so many new things in 1st grade. I also look forward to seeing how much the kids I work with have grown over the summer and working with 2 new counselors.
One of the most exciting events of the summer occurred right before I returned to work. Our friends Liz and Garth welcomed Holden into the world. He is a beautiful baby boy! Liz will be staying home with Holden this year. Yet another reason that the return to school is bittersweet. I will miss seeing her every day at KMS.
Fenway has grown a lot in the short time she has been with us. We have come along way in the dog training department. Accidents are occurring less often and sleep is less interrupted at night. Fenway was spayed the end of July. She was like a different dog the day of surgery - sleeping most of the evening. The next day - boom! Back to normal.

My niece turned 1 and we took a brief road trip to Dallas for the birthday. Lauryn loved seeing Savanah and singing to her.

This was Fenway's first long trip in the car. Both puppies did very well in the car and Fenway behaved at Nana and Grandad's house.
